By tightening the expansion screw, the clamp is secured against displacement in the groove. By subsequently tightening the screw that controls the hinged thumb, the clamped object is pulled/pressed. The advantage of these clamps is that they do not interfere with the machining tool - they do not protrude above the clamped object. Clamps are not suitable for clamping large parts (1000x500mm, etc.) with a large weight! Clamps are suitable for light milling or grinding / EDM machines.
