We recommend using stainless steel inserts for drills / milling machines and lathes without numerical control(without NC). Due to their higher toughness, they can withstand worse treatment(than carbides) and do not suffer so much.
Carbide inserts are ideal for machines with numerical control(NC), but they can also be used on classic machines without NC - you just need to keep in mind that any Vibration during vibrations(loose spindle, low machine stiffness) can cause premature damage / breakage.
