Function:
At the higher pressure in the manifold, the pressure applied by the spring on the ball inside the valve is overcome. This will open, respectively. bounce the ball and release the hole - on the photo.
This valve should only serve as a secondary overpressure protection - ie if an electric or mechanical control valve fails.
