Manual adjustable reamers are ONLY suitable for through holes. The cutting edges ream gradually (conical hole), ie the set diameter will not be reamed until the reamer passes the cutting edges through the hole.

Adjustable reamers are used in finishing machining operations with cylindrical holes. Reamed holes have a precise size, geometric shape and a smooth surface. The size of the reamer is continuously variable within the specified range. The set size is measured via a pair of opposing knives. The commonly supplied knife geometry is suitable for machining gray cast iron and bronze.
